Privacy
Belproze is built to be useful without being nosy. Here is everything stored, transmitted, or processed when you use the site.
What lives on your device
Your browser keeps two small bits of data in localStorage:
- belproze:preferences — your chosen typeface, text size, line spacing, theme, accent colour, and which work you have open. So when you come back, the site looks the way you left it.
- belproze:progress— how far through each book or poem you've read, and when you last read it. So you can pick up where you stopped.
Both live entirely on your device. They never leave the browser. Clearing your browser's site data wipes them.
What is never stored
- Custom text you paste in. When you use Your text in the library, what you paste goes only to the screen renderer. It is not written to localStorage, never transmitted to any server, never logged. Reload the page and it is gone.
- Anything identifying you. No accounts, no email, no profile, no fingerprinting.
Cookies
Belproze sets no cookies. None.
Third parties
- Library content— books, poems, and passages — is served as plain JSON files from Vercel's content delivery network, the same way images are served from any website.
- Vercel Web Analytics counts anonymous page views so we know roughly how many people visit. It does not use cookies, does not track you across visits or across sites, and does not collect personal data. See Vercel's analytics privacy policy for the details.
- Fonts (Newsreader and Source Sans 3) are self-hosted, baked into the site at build time. The browser does not contact Google Fonts when you load Belproze.
No advertising networks. No social-media pixels. No embedded videos. No chatbots. No fingerprinting libraries.
Where the texts come from
The library is sourced from Project Gutenberg and from original short passages written for copywork. Everything is in the public domain.
Changes to this notice
If anything ever starts being stored or processed differently, this page will be updated and the date below will change.
